Americans bought an estimated 1.73 million guns in November 2020, according to an analysis of FBI data.
This seasonally adjusted figure includes about 1.06 million handguns and 670,000 long guns (rifles and shotguns).
That's a 52 percent increase from the previous November.
No spike compares to the ongoing surge in 2020, which began with the start of the coronavirus pandemic in March.
