Since the FBI launched the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NCIS) in November 1998, 365.1 million U.S. NICS firearm background checks were initiated, including 32.1 million YTD, or more than on average 100,000 a day or 3.2 million per month, as of October 31st, 2020.
